Pixar and Disney recently brought the beloved Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear back to the big screen, showing fans around the world a different side of the character they first met. Toy Story. Light year It’s basically the science fiction movie that inspired the game Andy got for his birthday all those years ago. Rather than just a game, this version is a full-blown action hero, with longtime Captain America star Chris Evans providing his voice.
As it turns out, Captain America and hero Buzz Lightyear have very little in common. In the last episode of D23 Inside Disney PodcastEvans has opened up about the similarities between his character.
“Well, I mean, they’re definitely leaders,” Evans said. “Both are determined and selfless and honest and loyal to their friends.” “Buzz struck me as someone who might have known this about himself very early in life, you know, I imagine Buzz might have been the hall watcher and boy scout and class president and he was always so confident in his life choices. Maybe it took Cap a little longer to understand his role in life and how Realizing what was within him, there was perhaps more shyness, humility, and uncertainty in Cap.”
While Tim Allen has voiced the Buzz Lightyear game version for decades, the filmmakers behind Pixar’s latest thought the “real” version of the character needed to look a little different.
“Because he’s a side character in Toy Story‘We were going to try to figure out how to cast her into a main character, but we needed to maintain a certain aesthetic, a certain delicacy in squaring his lantern, but do it in a way that felt motivated by something,'” Lightyear Director Angus MacLane for ComicBook.com in an exclusive interview.
